Starting in January 2024, one of our safety team advisors will host a monthly open Zoom meeting for anyone on campus to drop in and ask any safety-related question you have. If you don’t have a question, come anyway. We will have a 1-2 slide presentation each month to cover one of the top issues we see during our annual lab reviews.
You may have noticed occasional shortages of biohazardous waste tubs and lids, as well as the appearance of grey tubs alongside the regular red tubs.

There have been reports on campus of newly opened boxes of nitrile gloves having visible discoloration, stains, deterioration, or other signs of prior use. Gloves may also be packaged precariously, full of crumpled gloves or some halfway inside-out, instead of flat layers of neatly packaged gloves. These are believed to be previously used, substandard gloves packaged into counterfeit nitrile glove boxes and sold on the market as new gloves. One brand that has been implicated as substandard or fake is SkyMed; however, there are reports of other off brands as well.
