It’s tempting to bring children along to work when school breaks, bad weather, or illness prevent sending children to daycare or school. University policies, however, forbid children in laboratories and any hazardous/high-risk spaces. Both the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the University’s Operational Manual contain the Minors in the Workplace statement. We know it can be stressful finding alternate care options so please refer to the University’s other back-up child care options. Utilizing vacation time is also appropriate when last-minute daycare needs arise.
