SAFETYmatters - Gas Cylinders Left Unsecured by Vendors?

Multiple labs have commented that Linde/Praxair employees are leaving gas cylinders unsecured upon delivery. Gas cylinders should always be secured to a solid support, such as a wall or counter, in a tightly strapped/chained bracket, clamp, or rack. If your gas vendor is not securing cylinders properly when they are delivered, then the lab is expected to secure the gas cylinders themselves; cylinders should not be left in an unsafe manner. EHS advises that the lab then notify Purchasing that the gas vendor is leaving these cylinders unsecured.
