SAFETYmatters - Case Report: Occupational Needlestick to Recombinant Vaccinia Virus

The October 25, 2019 issue of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)1 includes a case report of a laboratory-acquired infection with a recombinant vaccinia virus (VACV). Laboratorians, particularly those that work with VACV are highly encouraged to read the report (see link below). As a reminder, University of Iowa staff working with VACV are offered the vaccine, at no cost to the employee.
