SAFETYmatters - U and P Chemicals in EHSA

EHS Assist (EHSA) recently added two new filter options. You may now filter for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) U-listed and P-listed chemicals. These are designations from the EPA. The P-list identifies unused acutely hazardous chemicals of either pure or commercial grade formulations that are being disposed. The U-list identifies certain unused chemicals of either pure or commercial grade formulations being disposed. Examples of P-listed chemicals include allyl alcohol, beryllium powder, benzyl chloride, epinephrine, potassium and sodium cyanide, sodium azide and many more. Examples of U-listed chemicals include acetone, acetonitrile, benzene, chloroform, methanol, mercury and many more.

In order to see which U-listed and P-listed chemicals you have in your inventory, log in to EHSA and go into your inventory. Toward the top of the page, select either the U or P filter from the “EPA List Filter” dropdown. The display will update to show those chemicals.
