Controlled Substances Self-Audit
The self-audit for managing controlled substances in research laboratories has been prepared to assist researchers with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) / Iowa Board of Pharmacy (IBP) regulations. The document is available on the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) website under Chemical - Controlled Substances in Research. This self-audit will not be collected by compliance offices such as EHS, Office of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, or the Human Subjects Office. It is recommended that registrants complete this self-audit when the required annual inventory of controlled substances is completed. The self-audit tool is a recommended best practice; this is not to be confused with required documentation such as the annual inventory.
