3D printing is the additive manufacturing technology of making three dimensional objects by depositing successive layers of material under computer control.

More detailed information on safely operating a 3D printer can be found in UL 200B - Safe Use of 3D Printing for Institutions of Higher Education. This guidance document was created as a collaboration between Chemical Insights Research Institute of UL Research Institutes and Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) and represents the current best practices in safe 3D printer use.
