8.5 Decontamination of Biological Safety Cabinets

Class II cabinets can be decontaminated with paraformaldehyde (final concentration of 0.8 percent paraformaldehyde in air).   Cabinets must be decontaminated before they are moved, before any repairs are done that require access to the plenum and before the filters are changed.  The Associate Biological Safety Officer in Biosafety, should be contacted (353-5679) when a BSC decontamination is required.  Please call the Biosafety Office at EHS for any questions regarding decontamination of BSCs.
