A written emergency response plan is also in effect, describing the University’s response procedures for theft, loss or release of a select agent or toxin, security breaches, inventory discrepancies, terrorism threats and natural disasters. Those procedures take into account the particular hazards associated with select agents or toxins and describe necessary actions to contain them. All individuals with access to select agents or toxins are required to read, review and adhere to the emergency response plan. Annual review will be conducted along with drills or exercises to evaluate the efficiency of the response. Necessary revisions and updates will be made to the plan after such review and exercises and after any incident.
